Abstract

College students faces a lot of obstacles from day one of their enrollment which causes many to not continue the journey and end up dropping out. With the studies done by Melanie Hanson A Study By The Education Data Initiative (2021) around 13% of college dropouts are due to poor social fit and 3% from mental or emotional issues. Thus comes Nexum, a web-based application that bridges the gap between students and their peers by providing a platform for them to reach out and connect with each other. With the rise of online classes due to COVID-19, a larger disconnect between peers has grown leading to students having more trouble finding their social fit and proper resources. Nexum will allow students to reach out to one another and can find information about their college courses so that they can be better prepared to tackle the college journey.
