"In astronomy, there is a disconnect between the widespread concepts of the universe and the average person’s understanding of said concepts. What there needed to be was a better medium between astronomers and the average person for communicating astronomy research and information. Our solution was Space Collector, a 2D edutainment game that works to merge storytelling, player interaction, and accurate information to create a space that allows for easier education on the topic of astronomy. Players learn through experiencing real scientific concepts, which is accompanied with cited traditional written information to provide further context. Space Collector was developed as a 2D game in Unity, coded in C#. We have distributed our game via a WebGL build hosted online on Itch.io."
