Abstract

Insectoscope is a visionary project concentrating on the subject of identifying insect species. Our project addressed the need for reliable equipment for entomologists, researchers, or individuals interested in insects to cut the intensive labor and the user error that could possibly occur when one wants to identify an insect. We developed an automated insect species identification system using a camera and AI, with computer vision and machine learning algorithms. In this development, our identification system used images of insects and identified them in categories by their color, shape, size, and patterns of the insect. Our project embarked on intensive testing and validation to ensure that our identification system would not only improve. but innovate a system beneficial for all insect lovers.
