Abstract

This project focused on the design and development of a website marketplace platform exclusively for college students. The primary goal was to enable students to buy, sell, and trade items within a secure campus environment. Recognizing the challenges students faced in acquiring affordable essentials or finding a marketplace, UC Sell was developed to address these needs. Users were able to create posts, listings with detailed descriptions and photos, browse available items, and communicate through a comment feature to negotiate prices or arrange in person exchanges. For the technical framework, a combination of technologies was used including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Word-Press, Nginx, Proxmox, Sanity and GitHub. To maintain security, only verified college students could register using their university email addresses. The platform was designed to enhance affordability and accessibility for students. By creating a localized and trusted marketplace, UC Sell provides a valuable resource for students at the University of Cincinnati.
