Abstract

Phishing can start with just a click. Interaction with a malicious link can cause users to fall victim to a range of issues such as identity theft, financial loss, malware infection, and more. GoPhish is a Google Chrome Extension for URL click protection, which aims to eliminate risk for users when interacting with potentially malicious links, primarily from email. When a link is clicked, it redirects the user to our GoPhish webpage which breaks down the validity and trustworthiness of the link while also eliminating the malicious interaction. From this information, users will have enough details to determine whether the content they almost interacted with was legitimate or malicious. GoPhish retrieves these details on link validation by using a URLScan.io API key, which is securely stored and accessed through a backend serverless connection. The frontend leverages HTML and CSS, with additional processes using JavaScript.
