Abstract

Today, more than 59% of the world population is plugged to the internet. The increase in figures from just 413 million in 2000 to over 4.66 billion in 2020 was influenced not only by economic advancements but also recent events such as the 2020 corona virus pandemic which forced the world to lockdown and sparked the emergence of telecommuting. which increased the number of sensitive information online. This is because telecommuters, who are CEOs, staff members alike now share and process data on their LAN often. The research will work towards the possibility of deploying an IPS system that enables the admin to set defined rules for connection into the network. By implementing this system, this research can contribute to the body of scholarship in IDS/IPS and contribute to the disestablishment of the dominance and impact of malware and cyber-attacks on home and small office networks today.
