Abstract

National pet numbers are approaching all-time highs and far too many of these animals are stuck in adoption shelters. Demand for these animals is growing, but significant barriers exist when trying to adopt a pet from a shelter. Adopters struggle to find the right pet from animal rescue shelters in their area, and adoption agencies lack resources to share crucial pet details and important demographics to adopters online. Swipet aims to streamline the adoption process by creating a web application that engages users to quickly find the right pet from an animal shelter near them. The solution will provide shelters with a dashboard to upload animals, monitor adoption activity, and review application activities. Swipet will eliminate many of the existing barriers between adopters, animals, and shelters. Tailored specifically towards the adoption of pets, Swipet is a clean and engaging solution that will connect homeless animals to passionate adopters.
