Abstract

In 2013 & 2020, the U.S. Government Accountability Office recommended that “Congress consider strengthening the consumer privacy framework to reflect changes in technology”. Congress has still not implemented this recommendation, disappointingly without major public outcry. iSeeU is out to change this by making the public aware of how powerful technology already is in invading privacy. Using facial recognition alone, iSeeU targets a user with ads by determining their demographics, emotions, and more from their image. iSeeU then details the exact data it was able to decipher from the user’s image, further cementing that all one needs with today’s technology to have their privacy invaded is a face. With the click of a button, iSeeU makes it easy for a user to spread awareness to social networks and contact senators to take action, all in the hopes of inspiring actual policy change in the realm of privacy.
