Abstract

Knowledge bases are on the rise due to the increase in technologies used in the background to support daily operations for organizations. These knowledge bases contain information used to assist employees with their daily tasks and application management. This information stored could also include passwords, keys and other credentials that could be critical for an organization. According to the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, 78% of attacks on web applications involved the use of stolen credentials. The target of such attacks are primarily credentials and personally identifiable information. With the Mismanaged Credential Finder, we are looking to rectify mismanaged credentials that are in these knowledge bases. This application will help support IT professionals in managing their knowledge bases and enforcing cybersecurity policies. Our goal is to reduce risk due to a knowledge base breach for any organization.
